Day 1: Arrival at Paro International Airport – Transfer to Thimphu Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, our tour representative will warmly welcome you and accompany you on a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, located approximately 55 km away. On the way, stop at the religious site of Chuzom, where the Paro and Thimphu rivers converge, and admire the beautiful stupas. En route, you’ll pass by the famous Tschogang Lhakhang, a 15th-century temple known as the Temple of the Excellent Horse, built following a divine visitation by the Balaha horse. Once you arrive in Thimphu, check in to your hotel and take some time to relax. In the afternoon, visit the iconic Tashichho Dzong, a stunning fortress and monastery that now serves as the official seat of the government. It also houses the summer residence of the Chief Abbot and the King’s throne room. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely walk through Thimphu’s bustling market and main street, where you can explore the local crafts bazaar. This is the perfect opportunity to pick up unique souvenirs such as Thangka paintings, handwoven textiles, wooden and slate items, masks, and ceramics. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Thimphu. Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing – Transfer to Punakha After a delicious breakfast, begin your day with a visit to Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang), where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley and marvel at the country’s largest Buddha statue. Next, head to the King’s Memorial Chorten, a revered pilgrimage site where devotees spin prayer wheels and chant prayers. This magnificent fortress is deeply rooted in Bhutan’s history. Later, visit Chimi Lhakhang, a temple known for its fertility blessings. Take a peaceful walk through Pana Village and its picturesque rice fields, which lie close to the temple. In the afternoon, embark on a scenic four-hour drive from Punakha to Paro, passing through the stunning Dochu La Pass and admiring the scenic Paro Chuhu River Valley, Wang Chhu River Valley, and Paro Town. On the way, stop at Simtokha Dzong, a palace known for its tantric teachings. Upon arriving in Paro, check into your hotel and spend the evening exploring the cultural heart of the city by walking through Paro’s City Center. Paro is renowned for its ancient temples, museums, and stunning natural beauty. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Paro. Day 4: Excursion to Tiger’s Nest Monastery After breakfast, set out on a journey to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktshang Monastery). This 5-hour trip includes a scenic hike up to the monastery, which is perched 900 meters above the valley floor. The trek offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
