Starting from the capital, Thimphu, and ending in the verdant valley of Paro, this trip will also introduce you to the breathtaking valleys of Wangdue and Punakha, all surrounded by lush green hills.

Day 1: Paro Airport – Thimphu Distance: 65 km | Drive Time: 2 hrs | Altitude of Thimphu: 2,350 meters Arrive at Paro International Airport, where you will be welcomed by our friendly representative. The journey begins with a scenic drive to Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. En route, enjoy the majestic views of the Himalayan peaks. Upon reaching Thimphu, check into your hotel and relax. If you feel up to it, explore the town, try some local cuisine, and get a taste of the Bhutanese lifestyle. Overnight stay in Thimphu. Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing After breakfast, embark on a full day of sightseeing in Thimphu. Kuensel Phodrang: Visit the towering Buddha Dordenma statue with stunning views of the valley. National Memorial Chorten: Admire Bhutanese architecture at this important religious site. Folk Heritage Museum: Learn about Bhutan’s rural traditions and lifestyle. Sangaygang View Point: Get panoramic views of Thimphu from this high vantage point. Changangkha Monastery: A 9th-century monastery frequented by locals for blessings. Takin Preserve Centre: See Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin. Tashichho Dzong: Visit the king’s office and one of the largest Dzongs in Bhutan. Return to the hotel in the evening for a restful night in Thimphu. Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha/Wangdue Sightseeing Distance: 77 km | Drive Time: 3 hrs | Altitude of Punakha: 1,310 meters After breakfast, set off for Punakha/Wangdue. On the way, stop at the stunning Dochu-La Pass (3,150 meters), where you can enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks. After arriving, check into your hotel and relax before your afternoon sightseeing: Punakha Dzong: A historic fortress and the second oldest Dzong in Bhutan. Chhimi Lhakhang: Also known as the ‘Temple of Fertility,’ where couples visit for blessings. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Punakha/Wangdue. Day 4: Excursion to Gangtey (Phobjikha) OR Punakha Sightseeing Distance to Gangtey: 78 km | Drive Time: 3 hrs (One way) Today, you have the option to either take a scenic excursion to Gangtey (Phobjikha) or explore more of Punakha. If you choose Gangtey: Enjoy a peaceful drive to the picturesque valley, home to the endangered black-necked crane and one of the most unspoiled regions of Bhutan. Visit the Gangtey Gompa, the largest Nyingmapa monastery in Bhutan. Return to Punakha for the night. If you stay in Punakha: Hike to the Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, a stunning example of Bhutanese architecture. Later, visit the Punakha Suspension Bridge and Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery. In the evening, explore local markets or relax at your hotel. Day 5: Punakha/Wangdue – Paro Sightseeing Distance: 140 km | Drive Time: 5 hrs | Altitude of Paro: 2,280 meters After breakfast, begin the journey back to Paro. En route, visit the Royal Botanical Park at Lamperi, known for its wide variety of flora and fauna, including 28 species of rhododendrons. Upon reaching Paro, check into your hotel and begin exploring: Ta Dzong: Also known as the National Museum of Bhutan, showcasing Bhutanese art and relics. Rinpung Dzong: A 17th-century fortress, commonly known as Paro Dzong. After a day of exploration, return to your hotel for the night. Day 6: Paro Sightseeing On your final full day in Bhutan, visit the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), a sacred pilgrimage site perched on a cliffside. The 2-hour trek offers stunning views of the valley below. Afterward, visit Drukgyel Dzong, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Kyichu Monastery, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan. Spend your last night in Paro. Day 7: Departure from Paro Airport After breakfast, bid farewell to Bhutan as you are transferred to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
