The Chele La Trek is rated as a moderate to hard adventure, perfect for trekkers who want to experience the high Himalayas within a short timeframe. The trek offers enchanting views of Mount Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, Tsherim Gang, and a distant view of Mount Kanchenjunga of Sikkim. It commences from Haa Valley and concludes at Chele La, the highest road pass in Bhutan.

Fly into Paro, enjoying spectacular aerial views of the Himalayan peaks, including Jumolhari and Jichu Drake. Meet your guide at the airport and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) and Rinpung Dzong. Explore Paro town in the evening. Overnight at Khangkhu Resort, Paro.

Hike to the iconic Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, perched on a cliff 900 meters above Paro Valley. Enjoy lunch at the Cafeteria Restaurant midway. Descend to Paro and spend the evening preparing for your trek. Overnight at Khangkhu Resort, Paro.

Drive to Haa Valley (2670m), a scenic and culturally rich region. Spend the day exploring the valley, visiting the local monasteries, and interacting with the local community. Overnight at a local guesthouse in Haa Valley.

Sagala Distance: 10KM | Duration: 5-6 Hours | Ascent: 880M | Camp Altitude: 3550M Begin the trek north of Haa Valley, following a path along a stream through yak summer grazing lands. After a steady ascent, reach the campsite at Sagala (3550m), with the first views of the high Himalayas.

Distance: 12KM | Duration: 6-7 Hours | Ascent: 800M | Descent: 350M | Camp Altitude: 4000M Continue trekking along ridges offering panoramic views of Mount Jumolhari, Jichu Drake, and Tsherim Gang. The trail takes you through rhododendron forests and across high ridges to Ningula, where you camp at 4000m.

Karpo Distance: 13KM | Duration: 7-8 Hours | Ascent: 350M | Descent: 200M | Camp Altitude: 4350M Trek along high ridges with stunning views of Paro and Haa valleys below. The final ascent to Kung Karpo (4350m) is steep, leading to a famous sky burial site marked by stone cairns and an old meditation hut. Camp near the summit, enjoying breathtaking mountain vistas.

 

Distance: 9KM | Duration: 4-5 Hours | Descent: 1000M Descend from Kung Karpo to Chele La (3988m), the highest motorable pass in Bhutan. From here, drive to Paro, where you can relax and celebrate the completion of your trek. Overnight at Khangkhu Resort, Paro.

Transfer to Paro Airport for your departure flight, leaving Bhutan with unforgettable memories of your high Himalayan adventure.
